One killed in Hyderabad clashes

HYDERABAD DEC. 4. Desecration of a place of worship by unidentified persons sparked communal clashes near Kishanbagh here resulting in the death of one person and injuries to four others today. Even as police opened 12 rounds of fire in the air, an Assistant Sub-Inspector and a couple of policemen were injured in stone-throwing.

The Ranga Reddy district administration imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Cr.P.C. in Mushkmahal, Arsh Mahal, Jalalbagh, Wadi-e-Mahmood Pahad and Mir Momin Pahad areas.

Contingents of the Rapid Action Force, the Andhra Pradesh Special Police and Special Parties (Operations) have been rushed to the areaand almost the entire Cyberabad police are deployed in the trouble-torn localities. Keeping in view tomorrow's Friday prayers and the protest demonstrations in connection with Babri Masjid demolition on Saturday, police pickets have been posted at all sensitive points.

Police have identified a person, Mohamed Hameed, who they said was responsible for burning a Sikh flag, which led to the outbreak of violence.
